Faith-based Recovery Support
Faith-based recovery support services are various houses of worship that integrate their religious beliefs and/or varying froms of spirituality into addiction recovery.
The heightened awareness of substance use disorders has led to an increasing number of support services provided by different faith based communities such as:
- Sponsorship opportunities
- Development of recovery-friendly churches
- Integration of ‘recovery pastors’
- Facilitation of recovery support groups
While increasing in number, more research is needed to identify the relative effectiveness of these religious-based interventions in facilitating long-term recovery and preventing relapse.Visit Peer-based Recovery Support for More Information on Faith-based Recovery Support
