The figure above depicts an example of the positive (the 2 images on the right) and negative (the 2 images on the left) images that participants are shown in the Multifaceted Empathy Test. After seeing one of the images, participants would rate their arousal and empathetic concern for the individual in the image (Hurlemann et al., 2010).
