North American Summit on the COVID-19 Pandemic and Addiction: Understanding Impacts, Lessons Learned, and the Road Ahead
This virtual symposium examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and its downstream effects on individuals with substance use disorders. The goal of this discussion is to reflect on what we know and we can learn from what we know, in order to ultimately better understand the clinical course of addiction, its treatment and recovery from it, and better care for individuals who struggle with substance use disorders. This is a collaboration between the Recovery Research Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School (Dr. John Kelly), and the Peter Boris Centre for Addictions Research at McMaster University/St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (Dr. James MacKillop).
