Senate Finance Hearing on Substance Misuse

On Thursday the 24th, the Senate Finance Committee held a full Committee hearing entitled, “Treating Substance Misuse in America: Scams, Shortfalls, and Solutions.” Senators on the committee and witnesses, including Surgeon General Jerome Adams, representatives from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Office Of Inspector General (OIG), and Gary Mendell with Shatterproof, discussed how those suffering from substance use disorder can distinguish the good treatment providers from the bad. Panelists described fraudulent schemes they have uncovered, how to identify bad actors, and discussed more broadly how to address the addiction epidemic.

More information on the hearing can be found here.
